Grand Canyon a deep gorge in Arizona, formed by the Colorado River. It is about 277 miles long, 5–15 miles wide, and, in places, 6,000 feet deep. The area was designated a national park in 1919. This Photo was taken with a Canon 7n film camera in 2005 while on a trip with my wife.

Irvington New Jersey

This Photo is the beginning of a series of street scenes. I have been interest in the urban landscape for some time, I didn’t know how to approach it, so I just went out shooting. Then while editing, I notice somethings that caught my eye. I noticed the Check Cashing businesses, the Police presents on the corner. Our Mayor Wayne Smith of Irvington, New Jersey has a concern for bringing down the crime rate in our community and it can be seen in the imagery with the Police booth at the corner in Irvington. The check cashing business also seems to be a pretty profitable business in low income communities. I have noticed other imagery that’s are urban visual experiences which I will try to explore in my photographs in this category.

Alantic City New Jersey

This Photo was taken while on a trip with my wife presentation skills coach Rosie. This trip was work for both of us. She conducted a workshop while I exercised my Contax G1 camera with the 35mm Carl Zeiss Lens. I saw this scene with the fencing and the sand and could not resist photographing it. I took a number of photos and chose this one to keep. I liked the perspective movement of the fence and the movement of the sand on the ground and also the water line. All moving back in space in one point perspective.

This picture of at close friend’s wife was taken with available light, with a Leica IIIg and Summitar 50mm lens opened to f2.0. I think this is a good lens for taken pictures of women. It gives a nice smoothness to the skin and blurs the background nicely. Some lenses are overly sharp and unflattering to the subject no matter how nice looking the person might be. So keep those old lenses they have not lost their usefulness.

This image was taken with a Nikon FM with 50 1.8mm lens. Let me say this photo is not a Henri Cartier-Bresson style decisive moment photo, but one in which I asked Aunt Bertha to kiss Uncle Gus. Some folks think I just saw them in the moment and took the picture. They were close friends of mine that are now with the Lord. They are very much missed in my heart, but I have this moment of remembrance.

My Leica IIIg traveling Camera with half case

This is my traveling camera, yes that’s a light meter. It is a trusty old Leica IIIg screw mount camera and a Gossen Luna Pro. This combination has not let me down, in a time when auto everything and speed; this Leica IIIg forces you to spend the time really looking and focusing on the scene brfore you take that photo. This outfit encourages me do just like the fishermen do enjoy fishing as well as getting the fish. Frankly it just allot of fun to use this old manual camera that’s made out of metal with machined parts. This camera feels good in your hands with it’s rounded corners. Well that’s not what this post is all about.

Make your own Leica camera half case

Well this what I did after looking at the prices of the half cases on the internet, I said to myself. Let me say first there are some very nice ones on the market. I noticed that people were selling the original hold cases at a low price on Ebay. I didn’t want to sell my own case because it would lose it’s value. So I looked for Inexpensive one and I found one with the straps missing that someone was selling cheaply. I said perfect my half case project this is what I did.

Two steps to making your Leica half case

First I took the old pin out that holds the eveready case together. Second I took the case parts to a shoe maker to put a snap where the pin was. The old hole was great as a landmark for placement for the new snap. Now I have a full eveready case and a half case. This is the what it looks like below.

This is my Leica half case ready for action

This case is just right and vintage just like the Leica IIIg that is at home in it. It protects my work horse, this baby does not sit on the shelf. This Leica IIIg goes with me to take my reference shots as well as those images that I will soon be showing on my photography Blog. Well I need to get back to painting, this is my Leica.

With this image I used my Leica IIIg with a Summitar lens to take a photo of Rosie of blogging for boomers This is a pretty active site that gives tips to boomers who want to blog or already blogging. Check out the podcast interviews by people such as Cathy Perkins TheWordPressWizard and Kevin Thompson’s review on BlogCatalog an excellent resource for anyone who is serious about blogging.

BlogCatalog can Connect you with other Photographers in the blogging community. This Image was taken next to a window to take advantage of the lighting. This is my favorite light source because it gives your image that much needed drama. My old trusty Leica Summitar 50mm is working for me again. You can get this Lens at  really reasonable prices on www.ebay.com .
Some people like it and some complain about its lack of contrast, but I’m still having fun with mine.

This image was taken with a Nikon Ftn with a 50 1.4 lens on a very hot day in July. I only had a moment to pose the young man for the shot. This image has been used for mini prints with text along the bottom.
