The process of deciding something or of resolving a question is the basis for photographing this street scene in Irvington, New Jersey. I saw two roads that both could take you to some nice places, but only one is the right one for you. This is the way it is in life, we must make decisions and hopefully we make the right ones.

This is the place to go to if you want good food and to meet some nice people. This is still a great meeting place many of the town’s residents and businesses.

This image brought back memories of my childhood in Connecticut. I used to go to the laundromat to wash the clothes, but we did not have the carriages to bring the clothes to the laundromat. We had to carry them on our backs and most of times the bag was heavier or larger than we were. Please note that I was only about 9 years old and a real skinny kid.

In this photograph this women is able to carry two bags in the cart and two in her arms in order to get her work done. She is very industrious and I see this everyday in different ways on the streets of Irvington, New Jersey, my home away from home for 29 years.

Kless Diner was a well known Diner in Irvington, New Jersey.Recently the site has been replaced by IHOP. I remember the early days of sitting in this diner in it’s hay day with my uncle eating. The food was good and had it’s own original characteristic. This photo was taken while the old beautiful sign was being replaced with the new fixture.

The Kless Diner sign is a work of art. Do you have old institutions that need to be recorded by photos so that their history can live on?

This photo was taken with a Contax G1 using a 45mm lens. With this shot I decided to focus on the vertical columns and the slab on the lower right ground level. I used it to divide the space like a Piet Mondrian painting. It is a representational image, but I also used the objects like abstract elements in the compositional arrangement.

This Photo is the beginning of a series of street scenes. I have been interest in the urban landscape for some time, I didn’t know how to approach it, so I just went out shooting. Then while editing, I notice somethings that caught my eye. I noticed the Check Cashing businesses, the Police presents on the corner. Our Mayor Wayne Smith of Irvington, New Jersey has a concern for bringing down the crime rate in our community and it can be seen in the imagery with the Police booth at the corner in Irvington. The check cashing business also seems to be a pretty profitable business in low income communities. I have noticed other imagery that’s are urban visual experiences which I will try to explore in my photographs in this category.
