This Contax G1 camera system comes with interchangeable lens, AF rangefinder camera and is much smaller than a SLR camera. The Contax G1 combines the flexibility of an SLR camera with the portability and ease of use of a compact camera this is the reason I like carrying this camera. But the best thing about it is the glass. The lenses are from Carl Zeiss and their performance is naturally superb, the first time I saw the photo’s from this camera I was floored. The colors popped and the negatives for Black and White prints was amazing with beautiful contrast and detail. I have both the 45mm 2.0 and the 35mm 2.0 both very good lenses. The camera also has a zooming viewfinder provides an appropriate view for the installed lens. The only drawback is the viewfinder is small. Of the lenses the 45mm is very good even wide open given you excellent detail against nice bokeh. In photography, Bokeh is the blur or aesthetic quality of the blur, in out-of-focus areas of an image. These Lens give nice quality in both areas making for nice images. Leica Glass give you the same quality but for much more money. So don’t stop using your old film cameras they have some very nice lens that will add to the artistic quality of your images.

The first image is the one that inspired me to photograph the same trees a number of times. The first was photographed with film the second digital. The first in the winter the other the summer. In earlier posts I explored photographing the trees at different times of the day. I don’t know if I have gotten it right yet.

Irvington, NJ Has some good people making a different in our community and one of them is Mr. Richard Williams. You will find him making a different as a board of education member, community leader and a great photographer. This is a rare situation where the photographer is being photographed.

Picture of Dad as a young man. The camera equipment is unknown but, cameras don’t make pictures people do. The camera is the tool to make it happen. So what ever picture making tool you have go out and make those Pic’s. Some  images can only be appreciated after time has played it’s part in allowing them to have a historical quality. This image was taken in the 1940’s.
